Burpees are a great exercise to get your overall body in shape and in gear. Hip thrusts are similar to burpees. By adding a push-up into the movement, you will elevate the effectiveness of this exercise. Before pushing or even varying your burpee exercise, you want to make sure that you mastered the fundamental aspects of this movement. If you are starting off doing burpees, I would stick to doing the burpees for a few weeks before making any changes. In addition, you want to make your burpee exercise as part of your fat-burning routine. By doing the movement for 20 seconds then rest for 10 seconds, you can do several sets of this movement. You can also add mountain climbers, dumb bell thrusts, or squat jumps to progress your fat-burning routine. Here is an innovative way to make your burpees more difficult and more effective.
By holding on to a pair of dumb bells, you can perform the burpee movement. It will be called weighted burpees. Now, it is important that you start off with light dumb bells- less than 5 pounds. Then, you can progress more. But, because this is a high impact exercise, you do not want to use very heavy weights. When you are ready to do weighted burpees, you can grab a pair of 2 pound dumb bells (or less). Now, do the exact same burpee movement without weights. When you are standing up with the dumb bells, you can do shoulder presses to build your upper body. Later, you can increase the weight to 5 pound dumb bells. The first thing you will notice is that your metabolism will be up and jumping. You do not have to do a lot of these weighted burpees. In addition, you can even do these weighted burpees with a weighted vest. But, the dumb bells should be enough for most people. After doing these weighted burpees for awhile, you will find that doing regular burpees will be a cinch. By adding weights to your burpee movement, you are going to develop lean muscle mass quicker. It is important to be careful of your joints especially your elbows and shoulders. Doing this movement for 20 seconds then resting for 10 seconds is an effective way of doing this exercise and practicing caution to prevent injuries.
